Get The Led Out - Tribute Band Santa Barbara reviews
Color Purple was faded!
I am glad to have had the chance to see the stage version of one of my favorite movies, Get The Led Out - Tribute Band, this weekend at Arie Crown Theater. The cast members are talented, and Fantasia is well suited for the role. Her demeanor and voice brought back the emotion felt when seeing the movie for the first time. However, overall, the play felt rushed and shortened, showing only glimpses of the power it had on Broadway. The stage seemed too small, and props appeared cut off. For those of us who have lived long enough to see our favorite artist become a mere shadow of their former selves, I was disappointed. Maybe I am making a lot of assumptions about the Broadway production since I didn't get to see it.
